What the trials suggest
Meta-analyses of randomized trials consistently find a modest LDL-lowering effect when oat beta-glucan intake is around 3 g/day or more. The average effect is useful, but not dramatic, and individual responses vary.
How to use that information
Check the beta-glucan amount on the food label rather than assuming every oat serving provides 3 g. Treat oats as one part of an overall LDL-lowering diet, not as a replacement for indicated medical treatment.
